Rights activist Gulalai Ismail has stated that her father has been picked up from outside the Peshawar High Court.
Gulalai Ismail, who recently sough asylum in the United States, took to Twitter to state that her father had been picked up by men ‘wearing militia dress’ from outside the Peshawar High Court today.

The activist’s father, Professor M Ismail, had recently revealed on Twitter that armed men had come outside his house at night and asked him to come out.
Ismail had refused to come out and had told the men outside to come in the morning. The men had stayed outside his house for some time.

Former senator Afrasiab Khattak has condemned the arrest of Professor Ismail and stated that it was strange that abrogators of the constitution and leaders of banned outfits roamed free but dissenters were arrested under fabricated charges.

In early October, an additional district and sessions court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gulalai Ismail, a day after the rights activist had stated that the sole reason for her leaving the country was because the state failed to protect her and give her constitutional rights.
