Terrorist Activities On The Rise in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was the most terrorism-affected region of the country in August, where 10 reported attacks killed 16 people and injured 37 others.

According to a monthly security report released Pak Institute for Peace Studies’ (PIPS), the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Hizbul Ahrar, Lashkar-e-Islam, and local Taliban groups were involved in most terrorist attacks in KP in the past month which has seen a steady rise in terrorism related activities.

The report said that 21 terrorist attacks were recorded in the country during August 2019, which claimed 31 lives and injured 83 others.

Meanwhile, the report also showed an increase in terrorist hits in Balochistan, where 9 attacks took place in the previous month. These attacks claimed 12 lives, including 11 civilians and one policeman, while injuring 45 others.

Out of these, four attacks were perpetrated by Baloch insurgents while the other four attacks were carried out by militant groups. Meanwhile, one attack was sectarian-related.

It merits mention here that one attack each took place in Islamabad and Karachi.
