ISLAMABAD: A student of Bahria University reportedly fell to her death on Thursday under mysterious circumstances.
Per details, the student identified as Haleema fell from an open balcony of a building inside the university and received critical injuries. She was a second semester student of business and finance.
According to university officials, Haleema fell from the building while taking a selfie on the fourth floor. She was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Sources said that she fell from the fourth floor of an under-construction building which was off limits to students.
On the other hand, students said that the university has been trying to hide the real details about Haleema’s death.
Students also said that accounting and finance classes were being held on the fourth floor of the building and the accident occurred due to an empty space which was left open for a lift.
Students from Bahria University also protested against the university administration for failing to provide a safe environment to them.
The university was also criticised by social media users who claimed that the high-handed approach adopted by the university administration was to blame for Haleema's death.
A social media user, namely Ammar Rashid, said that he was glad that the university administration was being finally asked questions.
Journalist Mubashir Zaidi said in a tweet that, "The university administration had not allowed police to enter investigation and forcing parent to not conduct post-mortem."
