KP Govt Agrees To Provide Rescue Services On Careem App
PESHAWAR: Ambulances, fire brigade and rescue services will now be available to the residents of the provincial capital on the app of international ride hailing service Careem.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan said that the provincial government has connected fire brigades, ambulances and rescue services with Careem after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the company.

With this initiative, the city has become the first place in the world where such facilities are being provided to the residents, he added.

The CM further said that international companies are investing as well as expanding their businesses in the province.

He also said that the new initiative would massively decrease the response time of the emergency services in the city and would help officials to effectively deal with disastrous situations.

It merits mention here that the KP government, in collaboration with Careem, would bring Rescue 1122 ambulance and fire brigade services on Careem’s platform.

KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra said on the occasion that the provincial government is committed to take the lead in developing favourable policies to encourage innovation in the province.

By introducing a progressive regulatory framework for online marketplaces and ride hailing platforms, we have laid the foundation for an enabling business environment that would help in increasing job opportunities in the province, he added.

He also said that the recent progressive fiscal measures taken by the provincial government for understanding the business model of online marketplace platforms have an immense potential to create jobs in the country.

The finance minister further said that the KP government has also reduced the sales tax on services for online ride hailing companies, including Careem and Uber. Such measures have allowed companies to expand their businesses and create more jobs for the youth in the shortest possible time, he added.

The minister said that Careem would also train the staff of Rescue 1122 to make the new system successful, while adding that KP would help the country step into the digital age and improve the lives of people.
