Seminary Teacher In AJK Allegedly Rapes 8-Year-Old
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a seminary teacher for allegedly sexually molesting an eight-year-old girl and have booked him under a law pertaining to rape cases.
According to a report in Dawn, Station House Officer Akmal Sharif said that the victim’s father informed police about the incident on Thursday night. The incident took place in Jaglari Morni village in Bagh city.
According to the First Information Report regarding the case, the victim had gone to the local mosque for Quran lessons. She was also accompanied by her younger sister and other village girls.
During the lesson, the teacher, Hafiz Mohammad Safeer, took the alleged victim to the mosque’s washroom and sexually assaulted her.
The father of the victim reportedly said that the suspect had threatened to kill his daughter if she talked about the incident.
He narrated how his daughter came home sobbing and narrated the incident to her mother.
The father has demanded exemplary punishment for the accused, and also alleged that the seminary teacher had sexually assaulted his daughter two times before this incident but had put so much fear in the child that she did not disclose it.
The police have registered a case against the suspect under section 10 of Zina Ordinance, Meanwhile, the victim has been sent to the District Headquarters Hospital Bagh for medical examination.
The SHO told media that the provisional report shows the victim to have been molested. He said that the accused was arrested on while he was watching a match, and spectators present there tried to resist his arrest.
Police said that upon being arrested, the suspect confessed to have ‘attempted to rape her’ but denied having raped her.
