Man Chops Off Sister's Foot In Yet Another Case Of Gender-Based Violence
A heinous crime was witnessed in Dera Ghazi Khan as a man chopped off one foot of his sister because he was under suspicion about her activities.

The incident occurred in the Kot Chhuta tehsil on Friday. According to Dawn, The Station House Officer of the police station where the First Information Report was registered said that a man named Shahnawaz Ahmedani chopped off his sister’s foot.

He said the woman had been shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital by rescue services.

The SHO informed media that police had arrested the man and a case had been registered against him under Section 334 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Violence against women is a norm in Pakistan, with much of it occurring in response to ‘violations of honour’.

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, between 2004 to 2016, there were 4734 cases of sexual violence against women, 1843 cases of domestic violence, 5508 cases of kidnappings, and 15222 cases of honour crimes against women and men, with the vast majority of the victims being women.
