PTA Ordered To Stop Unwarranted Promotional Calls, Texts
The Lahore High Court ordered Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to stop unwarranted promotional text messages and calls, Dawn News reported.

Justice Shahid Jamil Khan, while hearing a petition filed by a citizen, complaining about the unwarranted promotional texts and calls, said that the complaint was common for cell phone users in the country. The judge directed PTA Communication Director Muhammad Shafique to take action against the mobile numbers that sent  the rampant promotional texts and calls.

The petitioner’s lawyers said that the promotional text messages and calls were a source of great annoyance for cell phone users and PTA's role of a regulatory body entailed stopping them. The next hearing on the matter is to be held on July 19.
