Four-Year-Old Girl Raped: Senator Rehman Malik Directs Interior Secretary, Islamabad IGP To Submit Report
Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Rehman Malik on Thursday took serious notice of sexual assault on four-year old girl Fatima Zafar, who was found unconscious in the nearby bushes, in the Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad.
Malik directed the interior secretary Interior as well as Islamabad chief commissioner and IGP to submit a detailed report in the next meeting of the committee. He said the culprits should be identified through DNA test and no stone be left unturned to give them an exemplary punishment.
The senator expressed his dismay on the alarming increase in the child abuse incidents across the country and directed the interior secretary to introduce a law suggesting more stringent punishment for those who commit such heinous crimes.
The tragic incident had occurred on Monday when the victim had run out to play in the rain near the main gate of her house, located in the Hafizabad neighbourhood of Bhara Kahu, around 9pm.
According to The Express Tribune, when she did not come back, her family started to worry and went out to look for her. They soon found her lying unconscious in the bushes close to the house. The victim, who is the daughter of a government officer, was rushed to the Pakistan Medical Sciences (PIMS) in a critical condition. Doctors there confirmed that she had been raped.
The police, who have registered a case, said unidentified suspect(s) had allegedly breached the gate and abducted the four-year-old victim from inside the compound. They then raped her later they threw her into the bushes.
On Tuesday, Islamabad IGP Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar visited the victim’s family and assured them that the culprits would be arrested.
According to police, they had so far arrested around 30 suspects.
