ISLAMABAD: It seems not appearing before the Upper House of the Parliament’s panels have become a routine for him, as the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice on Wednesday protested the absence of Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Barrister Farogh Naseem.
It is not for the first time that the federal minister did not appear before a Senate committee, as the Functional Committee on Government Assurances earlier in the month had taken notice of his absence for seventh consecutive occasion.
As the proceedings were adjourned till the first week of August so that the discussion could be held in his presence, the committee members acknowledged the fact that the minister had intimated them about going on leave and hence his inability to attend the meeting; hence, he could not be blamed.
They, however, at the same time added that the bills on agenda were of such nature that discussion couldn’t be held without the minister as the ministry officials alone were not in a position to share stance on issues which required policy decisions.
