Senate Panel Enraged By Interior Minister's Absence From Meetings





ISLAMABAD: The Senate panel on Interior is enraged by the continuous absence of Interior Minister Brig (Retd) Ijaz Ahmad Shah from the committee meetings. The panel warned that if Shah didn't attend the upcoming committee meetings, a show cause notice would be issued to PM Imran Khan.


The committee Chairman Senator Rehman Malik told the committee that in the first week of July the committee will conduct a brief meeting on the implementation of the National Action plan. He further added that as the country is already passing through economic crises, any action against Pakistan by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will further deteriorate the economy.


Pakistan has rendered countless sacrifice in the war on terror and putting the country on the gray list will be injustice with sacrifices of Pakistan, the panel noted.


Senator Javid Abbasi while showing aggression on the continuous absence of the Interior Minister in committee meetings made the demand for a show cause notice claiming that the interior minister is not interested in committee meetings.


He further added that the Senate panel surfaces important issues pertaining to security and aspects under interior ministry however the interior minister fails to appear before the committee.


Rehman Malik stated that,


"We are providing one more chance to the Interior Minister and if he didn't attend meetings in future we will not issue only show cause notice to him as well will suspend them."


Senator Rehman Malik asserted that no one is superior to the Parliament and warned the Secretary of Interior that the interior minister till yet has not attended a single meeting and if he didn't attend the upcoming committee meetings, he will be suspended.
