Neither My Children Nor My Spouse Are My Dependents: Justice Isa

Justice Qazi Faez Isa, in another letter to President Arif Alvi stated that neither his children nor his spouse, who own three properties in the United Kingdom mentioned in the reference filed against him, are his dependents.

According to a report in the Express Tribune, the Supreme Court justice has also asked the president to provide a copy of afore mentioned reference that accuses him of violating Section 116 (1)(b) of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

In response to the allegations, the SC justice stated that “he had not received any notice from the tax authority”.
“Secondly, my children are not minors nor have they been so for quite a while. Thirdly, neither my spouse nor my children are my dependents. Fourthly, Section 116 (1) (b) of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 is not penal provision,” Justice Isa wrote.

As a result of the half-truth by members of the government my family and myself have suffered great distress, he added.
