Kolkata Mosques Open Doors On Women
In a recent development, two heritage mosques of Kolkata have opened their doors for women. According to Get Bengal, Tipu Sultan Mosque and Nakhodka Mosque have allowed women to offer Namaz in their premises.

This development comes on the request of Bengal Imam Association. The mosques have further built special facilities for the women enabling them to offer prayers in solace.

According to the Nakhoda mosque's administration, the mosque is open for women coming from abroad as well. As per reports, there are three entrances to the Nakhodka mosque where one will be reserved for women.

On the other hand, the Tipu Sultan mosque follows in the footsteps of Nakhoda mosque. Both of the mosques date back to the early 20th century. Such initiatives will go a long way in ensuring equal rights for women, particularly at a time when the Chief Minister of the province, Mamata Banerjee, is said to have a soft corner for Muslims.
