Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Wednesday addressed the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information.
Dr Awan stated that the interim wage board award has been constituted which will look after media workers.
“Legal formalities are being fulfilled to finalize the eighth wage board award,” Dr Awan added.
Committee members expressed their concerns over non-payment of salaries to media workers and asked the ministry to exercise necessary measures to handle the situation.
Javed Latif from PML-N who chairs the committee asked the ministry to look into matters pertaining to the nonpayment of salaries. Dr Awan, on the other hand, replied to the committee that the ministry will seek media representatives to tackle the situation.
