MoU With British Authorities To Extradite Ishaq Dar: Shehzad Akbar
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shehzad Akbar on Tuesday claimed that extradition process is underway according to a memorandum of understanding signed with the British Authorities. The MoU in question pertains to former finance minister Ishaq Dar who has been living in London since 2017.

Akbar has repeatedly claimed to be in correspondence with his British counterparts over the former finance minister's arrest and subsequent extradition.

In a presser with Advisor to PM on Information & Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan, Akbar claimed that the overall extradition process is in progress and will soon be completed.

Ishaq Dar who was declared an absconder by the Supreme Court back in 2017 had failed to appear before the apex court citing health reasons and alleged treatment in London. Followed by the court orders, authorities in Pakistan had sought assistance from their British counterparts.

UK Home Office in a reply to Pakistani authorities presented further questions regarding Dar's extradition and subsequent apprehension, these questions were forwarded to the National Accountability Bureau.

NAB alleges that the former finance minister is known to have "Assets Beyond Means". The premier anti-graft body of the country alleges that the accused has acquired assets and pecuniary interests/resources in his own name and/or in the name of his dependents of an approximate amount of Rs831.678 million.
