Government To Enforce Social Media Restrictions
Islamabad: The Ministry of Law and Justice has prepared a draft to introduce amendments in the existing cybercrime law passed by the PML N government.
Barrister Farogh Naseem, the law and justice minister informed about the new rules that will be presented in the cabinet. The actions of the law ministry came after the recent social media debacle related to fake news and incorrect attribution.
According to Naseem, the new laws will be a corrective measure for social media use in the country. The minister acknowledges basic human rights and freedom of expression while trying to balance the cybercrime law.
Pakistani Twitter expressed their dissatisfaction with the government`s social media strategy.
