ANP Peshawar President Shot Dead
A local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) was shot dead in the Gulbahar area of Peshawar on Saturday, police said.

Unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on the vehicle of Sartaj Khan – party’s Peshawar district president – who, according to the Lady Reading Hospital spokesperson, received bullet wounds on his face and chest, and he had died before reaching the facility.

Police, media reported, said a 30-bore pistol was used in the attack. He died on the spot.

Sartaj was a district council member and elected from the Akhunabad area of the provincial capital.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the ANP members have frequently been attacked by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in recent years.
