Those Who Have Joined Hands To 'Safeguard Democracy' Are Real Problem: Imran Khan
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday criticized the opposition parties saying that they were the real reason for Pakistan's problems. He said this while referring to the iftar meet-up hosted by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Zardari House in Islamabad.

“These people [opposition leaders] have gathered under the guise of safeguarding democracy. In fact, they are the reason for the country’s present crises,” Khan said, adding that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will bring Pakistan to prosper and will work tirelessly to achieve its goals. Khan said the above while speaking at a fundraiser for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital (SKMH).

He said that it was commendable how people, despite harsh economic conditions, have broken records of donations to the cancer hospital. “The people who have a distinctive passion for charity are in fact the real hope for the country’s prosperity,” he said. Following Khan's appeal for donations to SKMH, Rs200 million poured in.

The premier said charity was the biggest strength of the Pakistani nation and it could take the country to new heights if harnessed properly. Khan said that SKMH was the only hospital with was working solely on donations and that 70 percent of the patients were being treated for free.

He also revealed that work has also started for a hospital in Karachi.

SKMCH CEO Dr. Faisal Sultan told the audience that 9,878 cancer patients were registered at the hospital in 2018 and the number of outdoor patients was 247,508.
