Refusing to choose between her child’s needs and her professional obligations, Mahjabeen Shereen, a member of the Balochistan Assembly, brought her infant with her in an assembly session The result?
She was forced to leave the session by her colleagues because they considered it a violation of the rules Mahjabeen told NayaDaur that her infant was unwell and there was no to take care of him, so she had to bring him with herself to the assembly.
Mahjabeen feels she was victimised for being a woman because male members of the assembly often get away with violating the regulations. She is now campaigning for daycare centres in assemblies. Once she succeeds in doing so, she will campaign for such
daycare centres in other industries as well.
