SWABI: A man killed his wife after she demanded return of the dowry given to her because her husband would not give up on his wish to marry a third time.
Sadiq Khan of Dobian village registered a First Information Report (FIR) with the police claiming that he was cleaning his pistol when he accidentally pulled the trigger and shot the wife.
However, Police refused to believe his version and interrogated him after which he confessed to having killed his wife over a dispute.
The officials who conducted the investigation said the deceased first tried to prevent her husband from a third marriage, and when he did not budge, then she demanded that he return a five-marla house and jewelry that were given to him in dowry.
Earlier this week, a man in Multan killed his wife by stabbing her with broken glass after a dispute over financial problems.
Brother of the murdered wife named Shahnaz Mai (24) married Bashir 2 and a half years ago and the couple would regularly quarrel over financial problems.
He said that Thursday night, he was informed by a neighbor of his sister that Bashir had killed his wife and fled the house. When he reached her sister's house, he found her dead lying in a pool of blood.
