Lahore High Court recently dismissed a petition of a private university’s teacher challenging his dismissal over charges of sexually harassing a female student.
Justice Jawad Hassan issued some significant remarks in the dismissal verdict. He observed that the work environment for women, in a male-dominated society like Pakistan’s, is often hostile and antagonistic.The judge rejected the arguments of the petitioner against dismissal, and said that the sexual harassment Act was not confined only to the relationship of an employer and employee.
