Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has invited leaders from opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's Maryam Nawaz, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party's Mehmood Khan Achakzai among many others for Iftar dinner at Zardari House in Islamabad on Sunday.
According to Geo News, Bilawal personally telephoned Maryam Nawaz and invited her among other party members to the dinner. PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that a PML-N delegation led by Maryam Nawaz would attend Sunday's Iftar dinner to be hosted by the PPP chairman.
Aurangzeb said that the delegation will be led by Maryam Nawaz and will include Hamza Shehbaz among others.
Bilawal also telephoned Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Awami National Party (ANP) head Asfand Yar Wali Khan. Others including Sirajul Haq, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Akhtar Mengal, Aftab Sherpao, and Shah Awais Noorani were also invited to Sunday's event.
Sources told Geo that the dinner is meant to bring opposition parties on the one page. Moreover, discussions over the country's economic situation and political matters will also be held.
On Friday, PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari met with JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday to discuss a joint strategy against the government.
The two leaders had a consensus on uniting opposition parties and continue reaching out to other political parties.
