Another Polio Worker Shot Dead. This Time In Bajaur
BAJAUR: Almost 9 days after a female polio worker was shot dead in Chaman area of Balochistan, another one was shot dead in Bajaur district on Monday.

35-year-old Abdullah Jan was on his way back home after work when unknown assailants opened indiscriminate fire at him and fled the scene.

Levies officials reached the spot and shifted the body of the victim to district headquarters hospital Khar in precarious condition where he succumbed to his injuries. Jan’s dead body was handed over to his family after autopsy.

The reason for the killing was not ascertained, but the investigations are ongoing. There has been a rise in the number of attacks on polio workers after April’s fake propaganda that polio drops were putting children’s life at risk.

On April 26, the polio eradication teams were attacked in Sindh and Balochistan while a female polio worker was shot and killed in Chaman.

According to police, two men on a motorcycle had attacked a polio team in Chaman’s Sultanzai area, which resulted in Nasreen, a 35-year-old polio worker being killed.

Another polio worker, 24-year-old Rashida was seriously wounded in the attack. She was shifted to a hospital in Quetta for treatment.

The anti-polio drive was suspended in some parts of the region during the past week due to campaign against polio vaccination. Three polio cases in the country have been reported during the since then.
