Villagers Refuse Polio Drops In Badin

Many villagers from coastal areas of Badin reportedly refused to get their children vaccinated during the polio campaign on Wednesday.

According to details, the parents living in the area of union councils of Dodo Soomro, Bhugra Memon, Seerani and others did not allow the health workers to give polio vaccination to their children for various reasons. The matter was reported to the police by the team

The local police have arrested around a dozen individuals for not getting their children vaccinated in the anti-polio campaign.

On the other hand, people have protested against the police action and demanded the immediate release of the individuals who were arrested and asked for the provision of water in their distributaries. They have also threatened that if their demands are not fulfilled then they will not allow their children to get vaccinated.

Dr. Karim Bux Gadahi, in-charge of the polio vaccination campaign, expressed his concerns over the situation and stated that all possible steps will be taken to ensure that every child is vaccinated.

He also confirmed that the vaccination campaign was stopped in a dozen villages adding that the Peshawar incident has caused fear and panic among the villagers, including educated people in the area of Dubi and other nearby villages.

Dr. Gadahi further said that after some efforts, they got the children vaccinated.

A revenue official also stated that it is the responsibility of every parent to get their children vaccinated.
