Trans Visibility Carnival Organized In Karachi To Celebrate Transgender People

Akhuwat Khwajasira Support Program organized a carnival for the members of the transgender community at the NJV School in Karachi on Wednesday.

According to details, the main purpose of the “Trans-Inclusive Event” was to recognize the community and all the hardships and hurdles of life they go through and to celebrate their existence with love and respect.

The AKSP team warmly welcomed the members from the Kyhawajasira community. Director Akhuwat Sindh, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Tunio, was also present in the event.



The Carnival took off with reciting of the Holy Quran by a student then followed by 2 mins of silence for the murder of Shabana, a Khawajasira who was murdered on April 14, 2019.

Two of the Khawajasira members participated by reciting naat and patriotic songs respectively.



A special musical performance by a choir was also performed in tribute to the hardships of the transgender community.

Akhuwat foundation aims to bring attention to the accomplishments of Trans-people everywhere while fighting against transphobia through these monthly events.



Moreover, their mission is to restore dignity amongst the underprivileged recognized the plight of the Khwajasiras and decided to initiate its Khwajasira Support Program.

In May 2018, this support program was initiated throughout Pakistan making it the first ever nationwide welfare program for transgenders in the country.
