PTI Local Leader, Accomplices Attack Drug Rehab Centre In Bahawalpur

Farzand Ali Gohar, a local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) politician from Bahawalpur and accomplices attacked a rehabilitation centre in the city and manhandled the staff and the doctors.

As per reports, the politician and his accomplices forced their way into the Panah Centre and started smashing the place. They also issued threats to the medical staff and the doctor in charge, Dr. Zia Moeen and forcibly evacuated the patients from the centre. Gohar also reportedly threatened to shut down the rehabilitation centre.

The politician had become agitated after a doctor refused to waive payment for a patient who had undergone a two-month treatment at the facility. Gohar apparently took the refusal as a personal insult and arrived at the Panah Centre with fifty goons and started misbehaving. He was also accompanied by the district administration officials who have yet to register an FIR against the local politician.

The facility was setup by Dr Moeen who left a thriving career as an established doctor in Saudi Arabia to fight the scourge of drug abuse in Pakistan.

Talking about the incident, the doctor told a local publication that the use of force against doctors and patients is not acceptable.
