Probing Unit Recommends Action Against Those Involved In Polio Scare
A committee of senior health officials formed by the government on Friday recommended that action be taken against people who are involved in campaigning against polio vaccination.

The committee recommended action against union council leaders, private schools and individuals involved in anti-polio campaign. Moreover, the committee urged to devise a strategy to persuade parents to get their children vaccinated for eradication of the disease.

It said that loudspeakers in mosques should be regulated to prevent campaigning against polio drops. The team also suggested that those who defended polio workers from angry protesters in Peshawar must be given certificates of appreciation.



The district police arrested on Tuesday the main suspect whose fake video viral on social media against polio vaccination, triggered province-wide violent protest, vandalism in parts of the province during last 24 hours by mischief mongers.

The fake video forced the parents to bring their wards to health facilities across province creating unrest and state of emergency in the hospitals as thousands of people thronged the hospital in sheer panic and fear.

On Thursday, a female polio worker was shot dead and another got injured in an attack on Thursday in Chaman, Balochistan.

According to police, unknown suspects opened fire at the team in a city near the Pak-Afghan border. After the shooting, the suspects managed to escape. Both victims were shifted to nearby District Headquarters Hospital.
