Pakistani Novelist Shazaf Fatima Haider Bags Award At Indian Literature Festival
Pakistani novelist Shazaf Fatima Haider bagged Children's Choice Award at the Indian Literature Festival in March.

The author won Peek a Book Children Festival’s prize in India for her book 'A Firefly In The Dark'. The jurors were 13-15 year olds who loved Shazaf's story.

Speaking about the encouraging comments made by the children, Shazaf said that it made her day. The novelist said that she was thrilled that the children liked her story.

“So Firefly has won the Peek a Book Children Festival’s prize. The jurors are 13, 14 and 15 years old and that just makes my day. Very thrilled that children and pre-adults are liking Sharmeen and Jugnu and the stories of the Jinn,” she said via her social media profile.



The novel ‘A Firefly in the Dark’ was published in 2018 that features the life of a young girl with the twists of supernatural elements as the tales narrated by her grandmother mingle into reality.

Shazaf was born in Islamabad in 1982. She completed her schooling from Karachi from St. Joseph’s Convent and did her Master’s in English Literature from the University of Karachi.

On Monday, Asma Jan Mohammad has won the Chartered Accountant Woman of the Year award for the year 2019. The Dubai-based Pakistani received the award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) in Islamabad.

President Arif Alvi presented the award to Asma Jan. The Chartered Accountant Woman Awards are aimed at celebrating and honouring outstanding female professionals.
