NAB Takes Notice Of Fawad Chaudhry's Comments Over Aleem Khan Case
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday took notice of Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry's remarks regarding fellow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan's case, Geo TV reported.

Earlier today, Fawad had said that if those who 'looted' the country's resources can be set free, then Aleem Khan can also be granted bail since he did not cause losses to the 'national exchequer'.

"Aleem Khan is a businessman and had no allegations of causing losses to the national exchequer. He should too be granted bail if suspects who had looted billions of rupees were able to secure bail with such ease," Fawad said via his Twitter account.

Chaudhry added that the general perception was that Aleem Khan was being punished for a crime he did not commit only due to the pressure exerted by the opposition.

NAB has also decided to look into Fawad's comments in the past regarding the bureau and various cases.

On Feb 6, Khan was taken into custody by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials in Lahore. As per a press release issued by NAB Lahore, Khan was arrested for owning assets beyond his known sources of income.

On Thursday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) suspended Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi's life sentence in Ephedrine quota case.

On Wednesday, the LHC granted pre-arrest bail to PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz in assets beyond means case, while the Islamabad High Court (IHC) extended interim bail given to Asif Ali Zardari and sister Faryal Talpur in fake accounts case.
