Heatwave To Hit Karachi In Upcoming Week: Met
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that a heatwave will hit Karachi in the upcoming week. Express News reported.

The alert also predicted extremely hot and dry weather for the city as well as the adjoining areas with temperatures rising as high 40 to 42 degrees Celsius between May 1 and May 3.

Medical officials cautioned the city’s people to avoid going out if possible in order to prevent incidents of heat strokes. “People should remain indoors from 11 am to 4 pm,” Dr Seemi Jamali, Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital Emergency Department Head said.  She also advised protective measures like wearing loose and light-colored clothes and using wet towels on the head.

Another doctor said that measures were being undertaken in the emergency ward of the hospital to help those affected by the heatwave. He added that 50 beds have been added in emergency ward and the hospital has also stocked up on mineral water.
