Better Chances Of Peace Talks If Modi Wins Again: PM Khan
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said that there are better chances of peace talks between Pakistan and India if Indian PM Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins election again.

"Perhaps if the BJP wins, some kind of settlement in Kashmir could be reached," Khan told a small group of foreign journalists as reported by the Reuters.

This was despite the alienation Muslims in occupied-Kashmir and in India feel. "I never thought I would see whatever is happening in India right now. Muslim-ness is being attacked," Khan continued.

Khan added that Muslims who were once happy about their condition in India were now worried about the growing extremism across the country.

The BJP pledged this week to allow outsiders to sell and purchase property in occupied-Kashmir, stripping people in the region of their decades-old special rights. This, Khan said, was a matter of great concern, adding that Kashmir issue can only be resolved via dialogue.

And the dialogue could take place if the BJP is re-elected to power this year.

Owing to the tense period in relations between Pakistan and India during February, PM Khan tried to contact his Indian counterpart three times but the latter did not respond.

According to Express News, the Indian PM house has been contacted three times to organize a telephonic conversation between PM Khan and Modi but that PM office of the neighbouring country has not given a good response.

Khan has reiterated his stance over the Kashmir issue on several occasions, saying that the matter could only be solved via peace talks. However, Modi is yet to give a substantial response.
