Dramatic reading of Manto’s iconic works to be held in Singapore
Absolut Manto, an Olomopolo media production of Saadat Hasan’s Manto’s critically acclaimed dramatic readings is to be held in Singapore on April 5, at the Esplanade. The traveling performance is part of a series initiated that aims to celebrate Manto’s writings and his spirit of tolerance.

 



 

The performance will feature prominent local actors Erfan Khoosat, Sania Saeed, Sarmad Khoosat and Nimra Bucha. A visual representation of the flash fiction series of short stories, Siya Hashiye and renowned writer Mohammed Hanif’s article, Our Case Against Manto are also to be included in the performance as are Manto’s renowned works Toba Tek Singh, Har Naam Kaur and License.

 



 

Previously, Absolut Manto has been performed in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in Lahore and was also part of the National Academy of Performing Arts’ NAPA International Theater and Music Festival in 2017.

 



 

According to Olomopolo media the performances aim to focus on the truths that Manto exposed in society and the various ranges of it from varying degrees of seriousness and darkness, to even heart felt slice of life and comedic stories.
