Cabinet Body Places HR Activist Jalila Haider, Ex-Minister On ECL
A cabinet body has decided to place former federal minister for ports and shipping Kamran Michael and human rights activist from the Hazara community Jalila Haider on Exit Control List (ECL).

According to the Interior Ministry, the cabinet body had directed removal of former National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) chairman Tariq Malik and Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, energy minister in the Sindh government, from the no-fly list.

Kamran Michael was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on February 9 on alleged misuse of authority.

Jalila Haider is a prominent human rights activist and runs a non-governmental organisation working to strengthen women and children belonging to marginalized communities.

Haider is also a Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) activist.

The cabinet body has not provided any reason for placing her name on ECL.

Earlier, another human rights activist and PTM member Gulalai Ismail was placed on ECL. However, the Islamabad High Court directed that she be removed from the no-fly list but appropriate action, including confiscation of passport, recommended by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) should be taken against her.
