'CTD acted upon ISI's information': Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat on Sahiwal case
Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat has claimed that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) acted upon intelligence information provided by the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in Sahiwal 'encounter' case.

According to Pakistan24's story, Raja Basharat termed the Sahiwal case as a 'joint-operation' of CTD and ISI.

Basharat said that according to the CTD officials, the 'operation' was 'intelligence based'.

He also announced Rs20 million for the victim family and said children of those killed in the 'encounter' are state's responsibility and that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will cater all their needs.

He continued that the case will be properly investigated, adding that the vehicle has been in use of terrorists and that when it was stopped by CTD officials, people seated in it opened fire.

Last week, 4 individuals were killed in an 'encounter' by the CTD in Sahiwal. The officials claimed that the killed were terrorists with Daesh links and also claimed to have recovered explosives and weapons from their vehicles.

Eyewitnesses, however, disputed the claim and said the people in the car did not fire at officials, nor were any explosives recovered from the vehicle.
16 CTD officials were booked in the case after a FIR was registered against them.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar cahired a high-level meeting on Sunday over the incident and vowed strict action against the perpetrators besides announcing to personally look after the probe into the incident.
