Why has constitutionalism failed to take roots in Pakistan?
In this video, Wajahat Masood discusses why constitutionalism failed to take roots in Pakistan. In 1947 the British Parliament passed the Bill of independence of India that created two dominions, India and Pakistan. India had already formulated its Legislative Assembly but the Muslim League was boycotting it. Pakistan's Legislative Assembly inaugurated with Jinnah's 11th August speech, setting the basics of our constitution. Unfortunately, our constitution's formulation to amendments have all been subjected to the changing leaders and governments. Wajahat Masood says that constitutionalism can only gain roots when we all agree that the country is made for the people.
