Remembering Junaid Jamshed

It has been two years since one of Pakistan’s most beloved celebrities Junaid Jamshed left this world in an unfortunate plane crash. Junaid, along with his wife Nahya Junaid, was returning from Chitral after a Tableegi Jamaat mission when his plane crashed killing all passengers on board.

His tragic death came as a shock to admirers from Pakistan and across the globe. Today marks Junaid’s second death anniversary.





Here is a look at the life, career and legacy of one of Pakistan’s most iconic individuals.





After graduating with a degree in engineering from University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, JJ briefly worked as a civilian contractor for the Pakistan Air Force before changing professions and pursuing music.

His talent was recognized by Rohail Hyatt and Junaid was inducted into Vital Signs. The band produced arguably the best music of their generation which stills lives to date.

JJ also gave Pakistan it’s second national anthem in ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ among several other patriotic songs including Kasam Us Waqt Ki and a song dedicated to the Pakistan Air Force.

After a music career that lasted almost two decades, Junaid quit both music and engineering and dedicated his life on spreading the message of Islam.





He released his debut Nasheed album ‘Jalwa-e-Janan’ in 2005, while he also released another 3 albums including ‘Mehboob-e-Yazdaan’ in 2006, ‘Badr-ud-Duja’ in 2008 and ‘Badeeuz Zaman’ in 2009.
