‘It’s time to vaccinate’: Govt kick-starts countrywide anti-Polio drive
The government of Pakistan has kick-started anti-Polio campaign countrywide today as it aims to eradicate the disease which exists only in 3 countries including Pakistan.

There are a number of factors why Polio still continues to exist in Pakistan. For example, killing of polio workers in fields and refusal by people in many parts of the country to vaccinate their children. The numbers are on the high side in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Since the introduction of the Polio Eradication Programme in 1994, the number of cases have greatly diminished but the disease has not been eradicated.

The previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government introduced anti-Polio policies and now the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has followed into the footsteps and seem committed to end Polio once and for all.
