Hours after senior journalist Nusrat Javed took to Twitter and shared details of how he was 'attacked' by six assailants in Islamabad last night, journalists and activists have voiced their condemnation. Several prominent members of the journalist community have asked for immediate and thorough investigation since Javed has ‘levelled serious charges’.
Talking to Naya Daur’s web editor Ali Warsi, Nusrat Javeed said that he was driving to his home from G-8, Islamabad, when suddenly shots were fired at his car near the G-8 Imam Bara.
“Both the tires on the left side of my car were burst and completely damaged. Then six men in plain clothes came and inspected me… The plan was to kill me”, he said.

Journalists and activists have condemned the attack and are
demanding investigation over the matter.

The reaction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters has been
nothing but disturbing. Some have accused Javed of cooking things up and eating
that ‘magic’ potion. Some went as far as saying that Nusrat was under
influence.
All of these reactions, however, do not bother the
journalist much as he believes it is just ‘proving his point’.
All that can be said right now is that charges levelled by Nusrat are serious and they should be properly investigated.
