By-Polls: PTI Minister Served ECP Notice For Participating In Electioneering
Punjab Minister for Housing Mahmood ur Rasheed has been accused of taking part in electioneering for the ruling PTI’s candidate for PP-51, due to which he has been served a notice by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The notice was issued under Section-182 of the Election Act, 2017 which prevents all public meetings during a certain period.

The notice reads that the minister electioneered for PTI nominee Muhammad Yousif. Section-182 of the Election Act, 2017 says that you can’t hold public meetings 48 hours before the polling day. By campaigning for the PTI nominee, Rasheed has violated the rules of ECP, the notice states.

Dawn reported that besides issuing a notice to Rasheed, ECP has fined National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, Punjab Minister Ijaz Alam Augustine and eight other parliamentarians.

ECP has also clarified that the two technocrats and women’s seats cannot be declared as elected unopposed yet. If someone claims that their nominee has been declared unopposed, it’s fake.
