The historian posted a picture of Buddha, that is displayed in Peshawar Museum, to which an Indian replied, saying those ‘fanatics’ would destroy the museum just to send a message to India.

While replying to a tweet of Indian, William Dalrymple expressed his opinion saying that “Peshawar Museum is the best kept, best displayed, best lit & best labelled Museum of art of early South Asia anywhere in the Subcontinent.”

The historian, while comparing the Peshawar Museum to India’s National Museum and Government Museum Chennai, expressed the wish that Indian authorities would look after their museums the way Pakistani authorities did. He also gave credit to ‘extremely knowledgeable’ Director Peshawar Museum Muhammad Asif Raza for his services.
William Dalrymple, is currently in Pakistan to attend the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF), which is to be held in the provincial capital over the weekend. He will speak on a session titled Of Princess And Patronage; Imperials And Imperialists on Saturday.
