According to a news report of Fahd Husain published in DAWN, CM Buzdar received a detailed briefing on coronavirus from relevant experts and officials. The purpose of the briefing was to provide the chief minister all the information he required as the top executive of the largest province, so he could make the right decisions.
The newspaper reported that at the end of the briefing, the chief minister ‘innocently’ asked as to how the deadly coronavirus bite a person – after which the health experts and officials were astonished upon the ignorance of CM Buzdar.
People in Punjab are complaining about the poor state of affairs in the province regarding their measures to counter the fatal spread of the virus. The gap between the magnitude of the challenge that COVID-19 has thrown and the scale of the response so far is much wider.
On the other hand, Sindh government, under the leadership of ‘energised’ Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has done a remarkable job with respect to coronavirus outbreak in the province. They have purchased 10,000 testing kits, in addition, the Sindh government is ramping up the capacity of its coronavirus testing labs from the current 200 per day to nearly 20,000 tests within a short period of time.
The national toll of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 304, with 211 cases in Sindh and 33 in Punjab. There are two officially-confirmed deaths in Pakistan due to the deadly virus.
