Listing failures of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said the government couldn't control the prices of the everyday use commodities while it also picked a fight with media.

According to the former finance minister, the unbridled hike in prices of commodities caused resentment among the masses, whereas the confrontation with media resulted in the propagation of negative image of the government.

The federal minister said another failure of the government was to handle the accountability narrative, as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was formed by past governments and it was not under its control.

Speaking about the success of the government, Umar claimed that the biggest achievement of the PTI government was giving a primary role to masses in the decision-making and all decisions by Prime Minister Imran Khan were intended to provide relief to the poor and middle class.

He said the PTI was also successful at the foreign policy front. "Due to the effective foreign policy of the incumbent government, Pakistan has a better standing in the international arena," he added.

PM Imran made all decisions to 'protect the interest of Pakistan because everyone knows that he does not have any properties or business interests abroad'.

The minister also termed the response to the Covid pandemic as a success of the PTI government. He lauded PM Imran for successfully defeating novel coronavirus, saying Pakistan was successful in containing the pandemic whereas developed countries were still struggling to curb the outbreak.
