HRCP said in a statement that it was concerned to learn that independent election observers including HRCP’s team were not allowed in the polling stations in the city of Gilgit during the vote counting process.
“In at least two cases, the HRCP team received reports that some voters had voted more than once at women’s polling stations in Ghanche and Diamer districts”, the statement revealed.
Referring to the wide ranging irregularities in GB elections HRCP said, “Sadia Danish, a PPP candidate from constituency GBA-18, Diamer-4, allegedly received threats to her life as a result of which she was unable to enter her constituency to campaign.”
HRCP also said that Covid-19 restrictions were largely ignored by the authorities.
HRCP was concerned to see that no special arrangements had been made to facilitate persons living with disabilities at polling stations.
HRCP also called for government and opposition parties to ensure that GB remains peaceful.
