The number of coronavirus patients in Punjab may see a significant increase as over 700 suspected patients placed in quarantine at a university in Dera Ghazi Khan have shown symptoms of the disease. According to a report by Dawn newspaper, an official privy to the latest situation confirmed the worrying development.
He said that these suspected patients were pilgrims who returned from Iran recently. They had history of flu, fever and cough.

Two days ago, they were shifted to DG Khan at a university which was turned into an isolation centre, he said. The report also quotes him as saying that a high alert has been issued for the district in light of the emerging situation.
Moreover, the official told that the said individuals were kept on the same premises without any arrangements to place them in isolation, which exposed them to the risk of getting the virus.

The official also said that some of the patients were freely shaking hands and hugging each other during their stay in Iran despite symptoms of the deadly virus.
