Warraich became Punjab MPA in the 2018 general election after winning his seat from PP-118, Gojra, as an independent candidate. He was backed by Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N), but joined the ruling PTI after his victory.
Warraich was recently appointed by the chief minister as his special coordinator on sports, youth affairs and local government.
The information about his degree came to light during hearing of a case in the high court filed by a citizen seeking disqualification of the lawmaker for possessing fake academic certificates.
Punjab University's legal adviser Awais Khalid presented a report stating that the degree scrutiny committee checked the MPA's record and found that the MPA had passed his intermediate examination from the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, in 1995.
According to the report, the committee found that the MPA appeared in the B A examination in 1997 by providing wrong information to the university, because he was not eligible to sit the exam.
