JUI's Mufti Aziz Booked For Sexually Assaulting Student As Victim Fears For Life
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) cleric Mufti Aziz ur Rehman, his sons, and two other unidentified men were booked by Punjab police following social media outrage over a video of the cleric sexually assaulting a student.

The case was registered on the victim's complaint. Police verified the case after visiting the local madrassa in Lahore when the video went viral on social media.

Punjan IG Inam Ghani took to Twitter and informed that he has directed the Lahore police to arrest the cleric. "Nobody is above the law," he further said.

According to the student's complaint, the cleric sexually abused him and then his sons blackmailed him and threatened to kill him if he speaks out about the crime. The abuse survivor further said that he would take his life if justice is not delivered.

A day earlier, a statement from Jamia Manzoor ul Islamia, the madrassa where Rehman worked, said that he had been fired after it emerged that he is involved in sexual abuse of a student. A superintendent of the seminary said that Rehman and his sons have been asked to leave the seminary and that Jamia Manzoor ul Islamia was not responsible for their actions.

The JUI has also suspended Rehman's party membership, the secretary general of the party announced in a notice.

Meanwhile, Mufti Azizur Rehman said that the video being circulated is two and a half year old, indirectly confessing to the crime. He also alleged that the student was being 'used against' him.

According to reports, the victim is receiving threats from Mufti Azizur Rehman's supporters and is currently in hiding.
