Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda has said that the ‘disloyal’ lawmakers and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should be hanged.

The minister during an interview to journalist Nadeem Malik on his show, said that those who are disloyal to PTI should be given a punishment similar to hanging. “Loyalty can never be questioned. Your incompetence may be forgiven but not disloyalty,” the minister said.

When Nadeem Malik claimed that he had a strong evidence that two senior PTI leaders were looking to replace Imran Khan as prime minister, Faisal Vawda said that those eyeing such a shift will only fail. “The PTI is Imran Khan and Imran Khan is the PTI,” he added.

Meanwhile, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday summoned Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda in dual citizenship case. The petitioner, Advocate Qadir Khan Mandokhel, had filed a disqualification petition against Faisal Wawda for concealing his dual citizenship, which has now been fixed by ECP for hearing on July 20.

In January this year, an investigative news report published in The News suggested that the minister may have provided false information to the ECP about his nationality status at the time of filing his nomination papers on the 11th of June, 2018.

The report noted that there are documents showing that in June 2018, Vawda had declared that he had only Pakistani citizenship at that time. But, according to the investigation, the Minister actually had a US passport at that time – and his status as a US citizen continued even up to the point when the nomination process in Pakistan was complete.
