Detailed Verdict On Gen Bajwa’s Extension Extremely Bold

The detailed verdict of the Supreme Court on army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s extension is stronger in language than the original short order. While Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has made solid legal arguments making it clear that if the parliament failed to legislate on the matter within six months, army chief’s term will expire automatically, Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa referred to Justice Edward Coke’s 1616 judgment regarding King James I’s authority whereby the honorable judge had stated that even the king could not be above the law.
