Man In Lahore Commits Suicide After Being Falsely Termed Coronavirus Patient
A 68-year-old asthma patient, identified as Hanif, allegedly committed suicide after being labeled as a coronavirus-patient by his neighbours in Lahore on Thursday.

DAWN reported that police officials of the provincial capital confirmed that an elderly man set himself on fire in a local graveyard. The deceased was an asthma patient and the coronavirus tag forced him to commit suicide.

The report said that Hanif’s condition got serious on the day of the incident, when some neighbours called him a Covid-19 case due to his identical symptoms. Later his conditioned worsened and faced severe breathing problems due to an attack of asthma. “The deceased was aware of the fact that the percentage of mortality of the Covid-19 is high in elderly patients. Hanif arranged petrol and set himself on fire in a local graveyard of Lahore,” the police officials said.

Upon learning about the incident, the police officials rushed to the graveyard and shifted Hanif to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

The police official said the elderly man had informed the police moments before his death that someone in his area had called him a confirmed patient of coronavirus. He further said the family of the deceased refused to take legal action against anyone.
