The Physicist, while expressing his views on a web podcast The Pakistan Experience, said that his case of contact-termination by Forman Christian College (FCC) was different from Professor Ammar Ali Jan’s case of firing.

“In Ammar’s case, there was definitely an involvement of ‘external powers. The administration of FCC was being forced by ‘Khalai Makhlooq’ to fire Ammar because of his political activism, especially his involvement in last year’s Student Solidarity March. They didn’t want any teacher critical of state policies,” Professor Hoodbhoy said.
While talking about his case, he said that when online classes started, he demanded the management to store all the teaching material at one place which should be accessible for everyone. He said this demand was not liked by many teachers and even some members of the administration.
“This could expose these teachers and it could even endanger their jobs and salaries. Almost 90% of the university teachers are incompetent,” he added.
Earlier this month, Professor Hoodbhoy’s resignation letter to FCC College had gone viral on social media. In the letter, Hoodbhoy had said that he was denied the respect that every academic is entitled to.
