The top judge, in the court order, noted: “The dignity of a judge or a court is not dependent or resorting to the law of contempt. The judgments of a judge and the latter’s conduct is the measure of his or her integrity and independence.”

While talking about the tweet, against which the contempt application was filed, the judge said that only a few people would have read that tweet on social media but by entertaining this application, the court would be ‘facilitating’ its propagation.
“The integrity and independence of the Hon’able judges, regarding whom the alleged tweet is attributed, is beyond doubt. The dignity of an independent judge nor his or her integrity is so fragile and vulnerable so as to be harmed by a tweet on the social media platform,” Justice Minallah said.
The court has dismissed the contempt application on grounds that ‘entertaining’ the petition will enable the petitioner to propagate the content that is not “worthy of giving importance”.
